Shelby Farmers Market Opening Day 2020
The first day of the farmers market during a crazy pandemic managed to open on schedule. This is thanks to an exception in the lockdown rules that allowed for outdoor farmers markets here in Michigan to sell food, plants, and personal hygiene products. Some of our brave vendors joined us for this cautious, careful start to the 2020 season. We put out a hand sanitizing station, wore masks, and set the vendor spaces quite far apart form one another to allow for social distancing.
It was challenging, but also good to see everyone after six months away from one another. We were all so ready to get out of our houses and see some people once again, plus the vendor group begins to feel like a family over the years.
Bold shoppers ventured out to shop on the front lawn of the Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site, and it was great to see them. We all got the chance to connect and purchase some locally grown plants, fresh eggs from free range chickens, jams, sauces, woven baskets, plus so much more.
What a crazy year 2020 turned out to be!
Our farmers market farmers and vendors on this date were:
Ginn Farms, Mandel Greenhouse, Sharla’s Webz, The Corner Spot, Greg Phinney Farms, Titus Farms, Kathy Griebe, Honey & Savon, Friendly Fran, and Lynn of Sourced Essentials.
