Look, It’s a Wonderful “Woodie!”: Stealing the Spotlight at EyesOn Design 2021

Some of the cars in our Packard fleet at the PPG are getting pretty jealous.

It’s because one of their company has received some extra TLC over the past few weeks. Why? Because it’s preparing to show off its merits for dozens – if not hundreds – of classic car fans this weekend. Feast your eyes on the beauty below:

Absolutely gorgeous.

Our 1950 Packard Station Wagon was invited to participate in the the 2021 EyesOn Design Automotive Design Exhibition. This exhibition is lauded as the only design-centered automotive show in the nation. This unique focus attracts transportation design professionals, enthusiasts, and collectors to visit southeast Michigan for this special event. Interested in learning more about EyesOn Design? The event takes place this weekend, so mark your calendars if you haven’t already! The car show takes place on Sunday, September 19th at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House from 10am until 4pm. With 250 classic cars in attendance, this event is a must-see for of all automotive and design enthusiasts. Our entry will delight attendees and transfix the judges, who will be critiquing its elegant design and appreciating our volunteers’ commitment to keeping this vehicle in its present beautiful condition.

This year’s theme commemorates and celebrates automotive brands of bygone eras.

More specifically, EyesOn Design has demarcated the 2021 event theme as “Marques of Extinction: Significant Designs of Bygone Brands”. The 1950 Packard was selected to represent Packard in the category “Loss of Independents, ’47 – ’63.” This particular category features vehicles made by companies that slowly ceased production following WWII. Packard made a considerable contribution to the war effort (read about it in this blog post, as well as this one). But as we know, it was one of many automotive companies that did not survive for too long afterward.

The “woodie” has wowed at weddings, too! It’s a showoff – but can you blame it?

That doesn’t take away from Packard’s elegant design and ingenious engineering, though. And it’s because of those aspects of Packard’s craftsmanship that our “Woodie” is on its way to dazzle the crowds this weekend.
