Rosie Garden
During WWII, more than 9,000 Packard women built aircraft and PT boat engines, joining millions nationwide in the war effort. Packard encouraged innovation through suggestion boxes, sparking the “Work to Win” program that improved efficiency and recognized employee contributions. Our Rosie Memorial Garden honors the legacy of some of the incredible contributions Packard Rosies made in engineering design, safety, and production improvements.
Their contributions to improving manufacturing at a time when time was of the essence are immeasurable in how they helped save lives and shorten the war. We celebrate their ingenuity, skill, and determination that helped secure victory and shaped Michigan’s WWII story. This garden was established with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 22, 2024, and was generously sponsored by the General Josiah Harmar Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Old Settler’s VFW Post 4659, and our Packard Motor Car Foundation.
