A Day to Remember at the Fall Open House
On October 20, 2024, the Packard Proving Grounds welcomed car enthusiasts, families, and community members to their Annual Fall Open House, and it was an event that exceeded all expectations. With perfect weather setting the stage, the day was filled with unforgettable moments and cherished memories.
Packard Patrician Raffle Winner Announced
The excitement reached its peak with the announcement of the 1956 Packard Patrician raffle winner. A big congratulations to David Smith of Saint Clair Shores! Watching David’s face light up when he received the news was truly a highlight of the day.
A Parade of Classics
The Cruise-In Car Show was a spectacular success, with well over 400 vehicles participating. The stunning array of both vintage and modern classics lined the tree-lined strip, creating a picturesque scene that delighted attendees. My family and I took a nostalgic taxi ride in a 1925 Packard, enjoying the scenic route through the show. Getting to hear the iconic “Ah-oo-gah” horn added a memorable touch to the experience.
Live Music
Adding to the atmosphere was the live music by the Belgian American Association Band. Their lively tunes provided the perfect soundtrack for the day, enhancing the overall enjoyment and making the event even more memorable. The band’s performance was a hit, drawing crowds who appreciated the musical talent and the festive ambiance it created.

Culinary Delights
A heartfelt thank you to all the vendors who made the day even more special. The Sugo Boyz food truck was a hit, serving up a mouth-watering selection of Italian street food. My husband and I indulged in their Crispy Romano Chicken wrap, and it was absolutely incredible. For anyone looking for top-notch catering, the Sugo Boyz are a must. You can reach them at (586) 205-3989.
We also owe a big thank you to Sweet Escape & Treats for their delicious ice cream and other sweet treats. Their website, Sweet Escape & Treats, is definitely worth checking out. If anyone knows where to find Stewart’s Key Lime soda, the owner and I are on a mission to find it. It’s the perfect ingredient for the best float on the planet when paired with vanilla bean ice cream.
Gratitude to the Volunteers
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to making the Fall Open House a success. Your hard work behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly, and your efforts did not go unnoticed. This event would not have been possible without your support and commitment.
A Community Celebration
The event was a wonderful celebration of community spirit and shared passion for classic cars. It was heartwarming to see so many families, friends, and car lovers come together to enjoy the day’s festivities. The Packard Proving Grounds provided the perfect backdrop for a day filled with joy, laughter, and admiration for automotive history.
Looking Ahead
As the sun set on the Packard Proving Grounds Fall Open House, it was clear that this year’s event was a resounding success. The combination of beautiful weather, stunning cars, delicious food, live music, and a strong sense of community made for an unforgettable day. I eagerly look forward to next year’s event and the new memories it will bring.
If you couldn’t make it this year, be sure to save the date for next year’s Fall Open House. It’s a day you won’t want to miss, filled with fun, excitement, and a celebration of classic cars and community.
