Guest Speaker
Debra Wake is currently the Education and Volunteer Coordinator at the Holland Museum in Holland, Michigan and is a member of the American Rosie of the Riveter Association. She worked for 25 years at the The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, retiring in 2020 as Manager of Youth, Family, and Camp Programs. She is also the former vice president of the Southeast Michigan “WOW” chapter of the American Rosie the Riveter Association and a former Tribute Rosie at the Yankee Air Museum (now the Michigan Flight Museum).
Debra, and the American Rosie the riveter association’s mission is to recognize these amazing women in their lifetime, and to preserve their stories. In April, she was invited to attend the medal ceremony in Washington DC, where 27 original Rosie the Riveters received the Congressional Medal of Honor that recognized the work of millions of women who kept the home fires burning and help win World War II. Debra continues to conduct oral histories, research, and share the legacy of Rosie the Riveter.
