Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site
Detroit born and raised, Dave has been interested in cars beginning with his first ride in a new 1954 Corvette. After attending General Motors Institute, he spent the next 47 years involved in the engineering of GM automobiles. In the mid 70’s, he purchased a 1935 Packard 120 sedan and began restoration. He joined the Packard Automobile Club and the Motor City Packards Region, becoming Director three times for a total of eight years and Activities Director beginning in 2008. In 1985, he purchased a 1947 Packard LWB Touring sedan, joined the CCCA and was a Michigan Region board member for six years. The sedan remained in the family for many years while undergoing restoration and became the prom and wedding vehicle for both daughters and several friends. Most recently, his efforts have been directed at restoring a 1956 Packard Executive sedan. In the interim, he restored a 1965 Corvair and a 1982 Corvette. Retiring in 2001, Dave became a volunteer helping to restore the Packard Proving Grounds and now is the Collections Manager for the museum.
