The lowest point of my journey with the PPG came when I heard that Ford Land Development had filed for demolition permits to take down all the buildings at the PPG site. It was easier and more profitable to sell land scraped clean of obsolete and decrepit buildings. And because Ford Land was a private business and there was no federal funding involved, we could not use the Section 106 review to stall and hopefully stop the demolitions.
Despair had overtaken disappointment for me at this point. Who could save the PPG? There was no light at the end of this tunnel.
